At Yellow Sunshine, your safety and peace of mind are as important as your comfort. While our regular cancellation and refund policies apply under normal circumstances, in rare instances where large-scale events prevent or legally prohibit the completion of a stay, our Major Disruptive Events Policy comes into effect.
When this policy is activated:
Guests may be eligible for a full refund, credit toward a future stay, or a flexible rebooking, regardless of the standard cancellation policy.
Yellow Sunshine reserves the right to cancel reservations without penalty in the interest of safety or due to local authority directives.
This policy is designed for exceptional circumstances and is not a substitute for travel insurance.
What Events Are Covered
This policy may apply if all three conditions are met:
The event occurs after booking,
The event affects the reservation location, and
It prevents or legally prohibits check-in or completion of the stay.
Covered Events:
Government-declared public health emergencies or pandemics (e.g. Ebola outbreak, not seasonal flu or COVID-19-related issues).
Mandatory evacuation orders or legal travel bans imposed by Indian or international authorities.
Acts of war, civil unrest, terrorism, or large-scale violence that make the location unsafe.
Natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes, floods, cyclones) that cause significant disruption.
Prolonged utility outages (power, water, etc.) affecting a large part of the city or area, and not just our property.
What Is Not Covered
The following scenarios, while unfortunate, do not qualify under this policy:
Guest illness, injury, or personal emergencies.
Jury duty, passport issues, or other legal obligations.
Cancellation or change in plans for events (e.g. weddings, concerts).
Non-binding travel advisories (e.g. general warnings without legal restrictions).
Airline strikes, delays, or insolvency that do not affect the reservation location directly.
In such cases, our standard cancellation policy applies, though we always try to work compassionately with our guests.
What Happens If an Event Is Covered
Guests may receive a full refund or travel credit.
Hosts (Yellow Sunshine team) may cancel stays without penalty.
Our calendar will be blocked for affected dates to ensure safety and operational clarity.
We will assess the situation in real-time and communicate with guests proactively.
For Our Guests
If you believe your booking is impacted by a major disruptive event, please contact us at Yellowshunshinestays@gmail.com or reach your host directly via your booking platform. We’ll work with you to find the most suitable resolution.
For Our Hosts and Staff
If we deem a unit uninhabitable due to a disruptive event, we are obligated to cancel bookings and ensure no guests are hosted until safety is restored. Failure to uphold this may result in deactivation of listings for safety review.
Legal Note
This policy does not override your legal rights under Indian consumer protection laws. Any disputes will be reviewed fairly and with transparency.
